The history of Aluna
Helena means shining light and the Latin Luna, the moon. The vision of Aluna rose under a sky of stars and a full moon!
And as our name suggests, we would like to offer you an experience outside the galaxy: To the moon and back!
Experience of Aluna’s owner, Roland: “When I visited Zanzibar for the first time in early 2017, I immediately fell in love with the island and wished I could create something there. To make this dream come true, I founded Aluna Nungwi in the summer of 2017. Just three years later, we decided to continue our dream by expanding Aluna Zanzibar to the east coast of this wonderful island and opened Aluna Paje in March 2021. “

Karibu Aluna!
Aluna Paje is a new accommodation in the heart of the lively center of Paje. Aluna is characterized by a personal approach, good service and comfortable rooms at an affordable price. Feel at home, far away from home.
The hotel is built according to European architecture and offers a unique combination of modern design with African details and a natural and green environment.
The old palm trees, which have been preserved since ancient times, rise magically above the sun deck with pool and bar on the second floor.
The rooftop terrace offers sweeping view of the ocean and the village of Paje and is a unique place on the east coast to enjoy the sunset.
A special setting that is best reflected in the full moonlight. Hence the name Aluna, “under the moon”.
Feel at home
Weekly we offer the opportunity to get to know the other guests. Barbecue dinner sand shared grilled fish buffets with live music are no exception.
Our priority is that our guests feel like coming home and be part of the ever growing Aluna family.

We are extremely proud of our lovely staff members.With their support we have accomplished great things over the last years. In fact this wouldn’t be possible without them! Even though Zanzibar is known for its ‘pole pole’ philosophy we aim at a fast and excellent service.
Deborah, our General Manager and Iva, our Reservation &Finance Manager, felt in love with the island and its people while being on holiday here and decided to make this angle of paradise their place where to live.
